Complete SETUP of NATURAL Walstad PLANTED Aquarium

This tank and its setup is based upon Diana Walstad's Walstad Method. One of the basic principles is allowing aquatic plants to filter the water to remove excess nutrients replacing the function of the typical aquarium filter. This means no pumps are required. To allow the best for the plants compost/dirt is used as a substrate in some form.
The Walstad Method has been around for a long time with there also being many videos made on it. It is only fair to acknowledge Foo The Flowerhorn who's massively successful video series has created a spotlight on Walstad method tanks and given the hobby much growth and inspiration to many.

The tank and Frank (the dwarf pufferfish) are both from the previous series on the 5 gallon planted tank from a few months ago. Overall I am very happy with the results seen in the video. The only things I wish I could have improved on is the length of time for the nitrogen cycle to complete (many articles on the Walstad Method have stated that the cycle should be incredibly quick due to extra bacteria being added) and the lack of growth and spread of many of the plants (especially the dwarf hairgrass which I want to cultivate into a carpet however this should happen in time).

Future plans for this tank are to encourage the diversity of plants in the tank as it matures as currently the limnophila sessiliflora and hygrophila polysperma are taking over the tank. In terms of livestock I wish to get another Dwarf Pufferfish as a partner for Frank, allow the shrimp to breed and be raised to adulthood aswell as hopefully introducing different varieties of freshwater shrimp.
