Lake Mason Homestead

Описание к видео Lake Mason Homestead

Lake Mason is an ex pastoral lease about 60kms North of Sandstone in the Murchsion Region of Western Australia. Now turned into a Nature Reserve by the Western Australian goverment after its purchase in 2000.

Orginaly in 1906 the station started out running cattle. Later it changed to sheep which the station ran for another 80 yrs or so. Surprisingly cattle can still be found roaming the Lake Mason Nature Reserve. Are these strays from neighbouring stations?. Two herds where seen by us. One herd actually walked by us at the Homestead.

In 1950 Mr Senior, the station owner or manager, bought the Sandstone railway station and re-erected it on the Lake Mason Station as a homestead. Its interesting to wonder why he went to the effort of doing this.

Lake Mason is some 5kms to the East of the Homestead and by some reports is worth having a look at. There was water in the lake at the time of our visit but we could not find a track to get us to the water of the lake.
Oh Well, maybe next time.
