Edelweiss Concrete Pre-cast Water Tower - Construction Update, May 2024

Working alongside Corestruc, the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s Water & Sanitation Department is innovating the construction of water towers that it needs to deliver a reliable supply of drinking water to its constituents.

When completed, this will be the first precast-concrete water tower in Africa. It builds on the successes the municipality has already achieved in harnessing our cutting-edge concrete prefabrication techniques to significantly accelerate the construction of large reservoirs of a superior quality. These robust structures will continue adding value for many years while only requiring minimal maintenance over their long service life. This is considering the many inherent benefits of precast-concrete technology.

Work is forging ahead as planned at both construction sites considering the efficiency of our unique system.

With a capacity of 2,5ML, this 36m-high water tower will be completed in less than 14 months. This is opposed to the between 24 and 36 months it would have taken to do so using traditional cast-in-place methods. It is also being built according to the very high-quality standards that the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s Water & Sanitation Department has come to expect from us.
