Mit Jai Inn Walkthrough at Silverlens New York

Описание к видео Mit Jai Inn Walkthrough at Silverlens New York

In this video, artist Mit Jai Inn, together with curator and writer Erin Robideaux Gleeson, walks us through our current New York exhibition Mit Jai Inn. This is the artist’s debut solo in the United States and features many of the polychromatic, modular, and multiperspectival serial forms established over his four-decade career.

Erin identifies the varying colors and forms in Mit’s work, referencing the eras of his artistic career. She narrates his beginnings in the highlands of Chiang Mai, his training as a novice monk, and how he found his way to sculpture and, later, expanded painting.

From earlier iterations of his Wall Works series (1986 – ) to a relatively recent body of work like Patch Works (1999 –), Mit continues to work with expanded painting as social practice. The artist also shares historical insights, referring to his Scrolls as mark-making vehicles, and describing his work with Franz West, leading to his career-defining participatory project, Vienna Apartments.

Mit Jai Inn is on view through 6 January 2024 at Silverlens New York.
