Xing Yi Bagua Palm - 形意八卦掌 - Zhang Zhaodong Xing Yi Bagua

General Information:
Xing Yi Bagua Palm was founded by Zhang Zhaodong. Zhang Zhaodong was born in 1865 in Hebei Province and passed away in 1938. In his youth he studied Shaolin Boxing.

When he was a Teenager he moved to Tianjin which back then was part of Hebei Province as well. There he was fortunate to meet the famous Xing Yi Master Li Cunyi.

Since Li Cunyi considered Zhang to be gifted for Martial Arts, he taught him Xing Yi and Bagua. He later even introduced Zhang to his own Xing Yi Master Liu Qilan.

He later brought Zhang to Beijing to introduce him to Dong Hai Chuan. Dong who was already very old at the time couldnt teach him himself anymore. So he asked his student Cheng Tinghua to teach him instead.

-Teechnical Details:
On the basis of his previous studies Zhang created Xing Yi Bagua. Its said that Xing Yi Bagua combines the fluidity and agility of Bagua Zhang with the Force Generation Methods and Directness of Xing Yi Quan.

Its said that Zhang asked his students to keep a obvious force in training. It can be even considered a trademark for Xing Yi - Bagua.
