Moong Dal Masala

An everyday healthy dish cooked with moong dal, that is delicious and nutritious.


Ingredient Quantity

Whole Moong Beans (Sabut Moong Dal) 1½ cup
Asafoetida ¼ tsp
Ginger chopped 1 tbsp
Garlic chopped 1 tbsp
Green chilli chopped 3 no.
Onion chopped 1 no.
Tomato chopped 1 no.
Red chilli powder ½ tsp
Coriander powder 1 tbsp
Cumin powder ½ tsp
Garam masala powder 1 tsp
Turmeric powder ½ tsp + ¼ tsp
Salt to taste
Lemon juice ½ no.
Coriander chopped 2 tbsp
Oil 2 tbsp

Method:
1. Wash and soak the dal for 3-4 hours.
2. Heat water in a pan, add salt, ½ tsp of turmeric powder and moong beans, mix well and cook till moong beans are softened thoroughly. Drain and keep it aside.
3. Heat oil in another pan, add asafoetida, ginger- garlic and green chilli chopped, mix well and sauté till garlic are lightly brown.
4. Add onion, mix well and sauté for 2 min.
5. Add tomato and mix well.
6. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, ¼ tsp of turmeric powder and salt, mix well and sauté for 1 min.
7. Add boiled moong beans and mix well.
8. Add lemon juice and chopped coriander, mix well.
9. Remove in serving plate and serve hot.
