Admiral of the Seven Seas is a large scale symphonic poem that combines Chinese orchestral music, dance, narration, choir, solo voice and theatrics. This piece commemorates the courageous spirit of Ming Dynasty explorer, Cheng Ho, in his seven voyages to places such as West Asia and East Africa over the span of 28 years. The entire work consists of six movements: Burial, Spirits, Voyage, Destiny, Danger and Vow.

The Voyage is made up of five sections: Celebration, Embarkation, Sea Route, Thunderstorms and Anchoring.
