Composed in 1959, Fishermen’s Song of the East China Sea《东海渔歌》draws from fishermen’s work songs and traditional folk music from the Zhejiang province of China. Beginning with a peaceful scene of a fishing village at dawn, the harbour soon becomes abuzz as fishermen set sail in high spirits. Out at sea, the fishermen encounter a terrifying storm and emerge victorious, and celebrations break out as they return with a great and plentiful harvest.
