In this lesson we tackle the important drawing skill of proportion! Proportion is the backbone of any good drawing. If you want to draw and sketch realistically you need a good understanding of how to compare widths and heights and how to measure angles. We start with a simple exercise and then work through a proportion diagram drawing of two objects.

This free drawing lesson covers:
• how to compare widths and heights
• how to choose and use a unit of measurement
• how to find the proportions of a single object
• how to find the correct proportion between two objects

This lesson is about practicing observation and sketching and the methods of proportion demonstrated are a step towards drawing from real life and being able to find the proportions of anything in any situation.

MATERIALS:
• Sketchbook
• HB pencil (Im using a 3B so you can see it clearly)
• eraser
• something with a straight edge (not a ruler)
