中大醫學院 【Prof. Siew Ng’s Odyssey in Biomedical Sciences】CU Medicine

The growing volume of studies that link gut health with overall wellbeing has received more attention than ever. Professor Siew Ng, Assistant Dean (Development) of CU Medicine, is among the world’s leading clinician-scientists who has led many impactful discoveries in gut microbiome. In recognition of her outstanding contributions in this domain, Professor Ng has been selected as the 2023 New Cornerstone Investigator, making history as the first female clinician-scientist to receive this prestigious title in mainland China. She is also the first Hong Kong scholar in biological and biomedical sciences to receive this honour. The award is organised by The New Cornerstone Investigator Program, a non-profit and independent fund founded by Tencent. Professor Ng will be awarded a five-year term grant with an annual budget of five million RMB for experimental research on further exploring immunoregulatory mechanisms as well as diet-microbiome-immune interactions.
