On December 29th 2018, Train Chamber visited Knotts Berry Farm to railfan their Ghost Town & Calico Railroad. Expecting to see D&RGW C-19 #340, the Railroad had Broke out RGS C-19 #41 for the Holiday Season. Equipped with a D&RGW 5 Chime, We follow RGS Consolidation #41 Around the park. Special Thanks to the Crew for letting me up in the cab for a little tour.

Rio Grande Southern #41 is a C-19 Class locomotive Built in 1881 But the Baldwin Locomotive works. C-19 by the D&RGW classification system denotes the wheel arrangement, "C" for consolidation, and "19" For 19000 Pounds of Traction Effort. Locomotive #41 was built for the D&RG as #409, but was sold to the Rio Grande Southern in 1916, and was renumbered to #41. In 1951 she was Sold to Knotts Berry Farm to Operate on their GT&C Railroad. There she was covered to oil, and still operates to this day.

The Ghost Town & Calico Railroad was built in 1951 and officially opened in 1952. The roster consists of two C-19 class consolidations, RGS #41 (Named Walter K.) and D&RGW #340 (Named Green River), and RGS Goose #3. The Rio Grande Southern #3 was purchased for special occasion during the off-season of the park, when hostling a steam locomotive isnt necessary. In 1973, D&RGW K-27 #464 was purchased and converted to oil, but due to clearance issues was sold to the Huckleberry Railroad where she still runs today.
