How to make a DIY Plywood Paddle Board - from Start to Finish

Описание к видео How to make a DIY Plywood Paddle Board - from Start to Finish

Weigh only 18 KG. Bonus clips at the end. I build this SUP without any plan. Just based on lots of dreaming and imagination. You will see how I build the SUP using trial and error. Be amazed to see how the SUP takes shape. See how well it goes on the water at the end. This teaser video shows the build of a 13.8 plywood standup paddleboard using 4 sheets of $18 cheap 4mm plywood. No stitch and glue. Just a handful of 1/2-inch nails and wood glue.

Please subscribe to watch a series of episodes of the build with step-by-step instructions together with failures and how to make good. I’d bet a whole bunch would start building this easy-to-build SUP. Yes, you can make this too. If I can, you can too. Start dreaming and imagining until it comes true.

I am not a builder. I just like to make things. I could not believe it myself as the SUP takes shape. I decided to build it this way because I really like to have the edges rounded and yes, it works. I am extremely happy with the end results. I decided to use cheap ply as I was not sure that this project will be successful. I told my wife if it breaks halfway during building, then I can just forget about it. Thus using cheap non-marine ply.

I did not use any powered tools to build this SUP or you don't need one to actually. All you need is a hammer, handsaw, wood glue, wood rasp and lots of sandpapers. No clamps are needed.

18 KG is a little heavier than normal SUP but it is manageable. The weight helps improve stability and durability. perfect for me. It took quite a while to build this SUP. I work on it after work and more hours during the weekend. I had to wait for summer to apply epoxy resin and fibreglass.

All the materials were from bunnings home depot. I just roughly follow the shape of a stitch & glue touring open canoe by JEM-Craft. I have asked my son to draw the plan for this SUP. I will share how you can get the plan in the building episode.
