Today you are flying with me on a QantasLink (a subsidiary of Qantas) Dash 8 Q400 turboprop, from Sydney (population: 5.4 million) to Port Macquarie (population: 45,000) 314km north of Sydney on New South Wales coast. The plane initially flies north above sea along the coastline, and turns inland at Newcastle. Then it continues to Gloucester, where a slight right turn is made followed by a straight-in approach into Port Macquarie Airport (YPMQ). You will see the beautiful coastline scenery together with the vegetation of several national parks along the coast, thanks to the high wing design of Dash 8. Most prominently, you will see the Myall Lakes National Park, Middle Brother National Park, and Lake Innes on final approach. This was filmed onboard QantasLink flight QF2162, from Sydney to Port Macquarie, on 19th May 2022.

Twenty minutes after landing, I board a connection flight QF 2456 (full flight link:    • Full Flight - QantasLink Port Macquar...   ) on the same aircraft for my onward journey to Brisbane 460 km north of Port Macquarie. In other words, I land in Port Macquarie for transition purpose.

Regional cities and towns play a significant role in building, developing, and sustaining Australian society. Currently QantasLink operates 50 Dash 8 variants (3 -200, 16 -300, and 31 -400) mainly serving regional cities and towns across Australia.

"Port Macquarie is a coastal town in the local government area of Port Macquarie-Hastings. It is located on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia, about 390 km (242 mi) north of Sydney, and 570 km (354 mi) south of Brisbane. The town is located on the Tasman Sea coast, at the mouth of the Hastings River, and at the eastern end of the Oxley Highway (B56). The town with its suburbs had a population of 47,973 in June 2018." – from Wikipedia
