Electronic Audio Experiments: Citadel // British Preamp-Style Overdrive

Описание к видео Electronic Audio Experiments: Citadel // British Preamp-Style Overdrive

The Electronic Audio Experiments Citadel is a preamp style overdrive pedal inspired by British tube amps of the 60s & 70s. Based on EAE’s Model feT platform, the Citadel is a sort of “Plexi-fied” version of the circuit that swaps the signature scooped, bottom-heavy chunge of the Model feT for mid-range sparkle and focus. It’s excellent for everything from clean chime to massive vintage crunch. The top row of knobs includes Bright gain, Normal Gain, and Master Volume. Bright and Normal run in parallel, with Normal offering a warmer, thicker voicing, and Bright adding more bite and sparkle. With either knob at 0, the channel in question is muted. The Citadel has a 3-band FMV style tone stack, as well. It is subtle, finely tuned, and useful throughout its range. For a more traditional overdrive pedal response, max the Midrange and roll Bass and Treble back to 0. In this demo video we employ the EAE Citadel on both guitar and bass (it’s amazing on bass, too!) in a heavy, dissonant rock context, then we get down to functionality, turning knobs and listening to tones.
