Tearing Down a Portable cassette recorder from 1979 - Marantz CD 330 Superscope

Описание к видео Tearing Down a Portable cassette recorder from 1979 - Marantz CD 330 Superscope

An old customer sent me his portastudio for repair, and asked if I'd look at this Marantz CD 330 at the same time. The Superscope was a little out of my wheelhouse and I'd never workedd on one before, but I agreed to give it a go.

Initially this seemed like a very promising cadidate for a portable, desktop, master cassette recorder to pair with a portastudio or other multitrack cassette recorder, but it turned out that the build uses almost no detachable cables, and more types of screw and other fastener than I've ever seem in a single build, making access slow and tedious, and total dissassembly impossible without a lot of desoldering.

The unit had no DC power reaching the motor or audio circuit, and a jammed play mechanism. Perhaps a tech who specialises in these recorders would be able to resolve the issues quickly, or an enthusiast or hobbyist would enjoy the challenge, puzzle-solving aspect of this? And if time was no object, I'm sure I would have resolved these issues eventually, BUT since I would be charging the owner for this time, after consultation with him, we opted not to proceed with the repair.
