Learning What NOT to say to Lock Tenders (Amsterdam to Lock 16 St. Johnsville, NY)

"Don't wait for us, we're slow and don't mind waiting" - was what we said. Pivot is (as of now) the 4th slowest boat on the Loop so we are used to lagging behind. Trawler speed is sort of an "ethos" where patience is the name of the game. It turns out that some Lock Tenders may not like it too much, so we learned by being forced to wait much longer than usual.

We aren't bitter (although we may have been getting a bit h-angry) it's just another learning experience! Always a student, and we're sure being a Lock Tender has its stressful moments, and we are very grateful for all the Lock Tenders on our loop far. Our goals are to be kind and pleasant boaters to all that we meet along the way, Lock and Bridge tenders included!

ABOUT US
Hi! We are high school sweethearts from Atlanta, Georgia who decided to take a year off to travel around the world. Together we decided to create vlogs for our journey as a fun way to remember it. On September 15, 2019, we left Atlanta with 3 bags, 2 one-way tickets, and 1 goal of traveling for a whole year. Little did we know, 6 months later we would find ourselves in a nationwide lockdown in India. The good, the bad, the ugly – and most importantly, the real and real funny. We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.”, just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem.
