Ballad of the Bells

Описание к видео Ballad of the Bells

This is my 3rd original composition, titled, Ballad of the Bells.

This original composition is meant to invoke a dramatic sense of wonder in the listener and a longing for purpose greater than oneself through the unpredictability of where the song will go. The emphasis on the bass chords that seem to ring throughout the piece are meant to imitate the sound of the bells that ring from the UT tower in Austin, Texas. The color palette of the video itself through the objects in the room, the wood of the piano, and the filters utilized are meant to appear bronze to relate to the strong tradition of bronze being used in bells.

Studying piano and working at my current internship on the UT Campus, I have gotten to hear the bells ring frequently. Though it’s routine, I’ve heard locals audibly in awe every time they chime. Their wonder, as well as my own longing to be part of something important, led me to compose this piece that imitates the grandeur of the bells.

This piece, alongside the others I have published on YouTube, are simple pieces I hope to revisit and extend in the future with formal knowledge over composition. Additionally, it's noteworthy to mention it took me a lot longer to publish this piece due to my finger having been broken in a game of volleyball. Regardless, here it is now.
