Symphony Hall, Boston, MA

Описание к видео Symphony Hall, Boston, MA

Symphony Hall is a concert hall opened in1900. Designed by the architectural firm McKim, Mead, and White, it was built for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, which continues to make the hall its home. The cost of construction was $771,000. The hall seats 2,625 people and was designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 1999. Symphony Hall remains one of the best acoustically in the world. It’s leather seats are the original ones installed in 1900. They are quite noisy when they fold up. Sixteen casts of notable Greek and Roman statues line the upper level of the hall.
Ten are of mythical subjects, and six of historical figures. The Hall is rather spare, even drab, in appearance. But because of its acoustics, no major modifications have been made to the original building.
