2 CSX Lines That Cross In The Middle Of The Road! Phosphate Trains In Mulberry, Florida & Amtrak Train In Auburndale, Florida. Big Mixed Freight Train In Lakeland, Florida Leaving Winston Yard Filmed By Mrs Tooth! Notice the first train knock down the signal ( green to red ). I got that shot real good in the dark at 3:10. That is an old Seaboard signal still in use! The train hits the diamond just after it knocks down the signal. Wow, that sounds cool! Notice the railroad diamond right in the middle of the 4 lane main road in Mulberry, Florida. At 5:33 you can really see the diamond up close and in action.
The first train was going through Mulberry towards Bartow. I heard it on 161.370 so I went to the diamond to film it. I tried to get a train in the day light at the diamond but struck out. The night train came out better than I expected but I used my wife's camera which is newer and better. After I put this video together I discovered that I filmed a second night train at that diamond and forgot about it. It will be posted in another video soon. I was using 3 cameras.
The next train is another night train going in the same direction. We were at the motel room and I heard it approaching so I went across the road to film it. The third train is an early morning train going from the Bartow direction towards downtown Mulberry. I was asleep and heard it call out a signal over the radio so I filmed it from the room. That was my chance to film it at the diamond in the light but I wasn't ready. It is cool to see the view from the room though.
The 4th train is another night train. It was the next night and I heard it on the scanner so across the road I went. That was a good one! It was headed from Bartow towards downtown Mulberry. This line is not very busy. You can see a couple of trains in a row and then maybe wait for 8 hours or more for the next train. Most of them seem to run at night. I listened to them on 161.370 and 160.230 for the dispatcher in Jacksonville, Florida.
The next 2 trains were filmed by Mrs Tooth. We see a nice CSX mixed freight leaving Winston Yard in Lakeland, Florida. Lakeland is only about a dozen miles north of Mulberry. Best frequencies here are 160.590 and 160.230 and use 452.9375 for End Of Train Device if you want.
The Amtrak train is seen in Auburndale, Florida which is just east of Lakeland. That train was headed towards Tampa. Mrs Tooth filmed it. I filmed it in Auburndale along with a CSX mixed freight local and my shots will be in another video. Somehow I got to wait for Amtrak after filming it near the Diamond in Auburdale. This was my first time to ever be in Auburdale so I wasn't expecting to catch it at a railroad crossing on the west side of town. I just turned on the map thing and headed toward Lakeland to get something to eat by the tracks. Btw, they closed Crispers which was my favorite place to eat.
The video also includes a trip to the Triple B Bar Reserve. This is a huge wildlife area north of Mulberry, Florida. The reserve is infested with alligators! Cool! Check out some of the animals that we saw. The reserve borders a huge lake. There are no boats on the lake and you can't see any buildings. It is several miles across the lake and there are alligators floating on top of the water everywhere you look. We found a wooden walkway that goes out about a hundred feet into the lake. Mrs Tooth counted 21 alligators floating around while we were on the small wooden pier. No boats or people at all on the water!
