2 Men Ride Boxcar On Local Switching Freight Train Behind New Miami Fire Department. 6 Locomotives On Huge Train With DPU, 2 Trains Passing At Another Wye & Awesome Railroad Crossing At Rush Hour. These Trains Are In New Miami, Ohio And Hamilton, Ohio. Includes Train On The Indy Sub Passing The "Why" Where The Old Train Station Used To Be.
Looking for new angles to film trains near New River Junction, I decided to film a couple trains behind the New Miami Fire Department. This is an awesome looking old fire station that sits right next to the junction of the CSX Toledo Sub and the Norfolk Southern New Castle District. I heard two trains approaching northbound calling out the water plant signal and the New River Jct signal. I found an area where I could get an awesome view of the trains between the trees. This is my first time to get this particular angle. A few years ago I did film a Norfolk Southern train with a Heritage Unit here in the snow. It was snowing hard that day but it was a different angle.
The first train is a local that usually has a platform caboose. The caboose hasn't been seen in a while. On this day a couple of railroad workers were riding up high on the platform of a refrigerated boxcar. The local was reversing toward the Middletown Junction yard. Right after this train passed a huge train with CSX and Union Pacific power came through. This gigantic train had a mid train DPU with a total of 6 locomotives. I knew this train was coming because 1960gambit filmed it passing Glendale, Ohio and sent me a text. Leave a comment about this view of the train. Was this awesome or what? I like the fire station here because it reminds me of a fire department that I was a volunteer on back when I was a cadet.
Next, we go 3 miles south to another railroad wye. This one has a sign that says "Why" and sits at the location of where the Hamilton Depot used to be. This is in Hamilton, Ohio and is at the junction of the Indy Sub and the CSX mainline next to the railroad crossing on Martin Luther King Blvd. It was starting to rain when I started to film a northbound CSX intermodal with a DPU. Right after the DPU passed me I noticed a train coming off the Indy Sub and passing the intermodal. That was cool! The train coming off the Indy sub was a big one also. Right after the locomotives passed me it stopped for a few minutes and then went on south to Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati. That was really cool watching these trains passing. I heard the train on the Indy Sub call out a signal around Mile Post 28.3 or so.
This is a repost. My electric went out twice yesterday while I was working on a video so I decided to pull up this old video for my new subs and for my other subs who may not have seen it.
