On this episode I'll walk you through all the steps to install a big brake kit (BBK) on your 2nd gen GS. Instructions may be similar on other models as well. While the LS400 BBK is perhaps the most economical and most popular on the 2GS, there are other options as well. These steps will assist you with the installation of pretty much any BBK.

TOOLS
Mechanic's tool set
Jack and Stands
Brake bleeder
Drip pan

PARTS
LS400 calipers
LS400 pads
LS400 rotors
(4) copper washers for brake line banjo bolts (2 washers per side) Dorman 66250 (2 packs req'd)
Brake fluid

BASIC STEPS
Safely Jack and Secure Vehicle
Remove Wheel
Remove Rotor
Place drip pan under caliper
Loosen 14mm brake line banjo bolt (slow drip only)
Loosen and remove 17mm lower caliper mount bolt
Loosen 17mm upper caliper mount bolt
Secure caliper with strap or similar (prevent from hanging)
Remove 17mm upper caliper mount bolt
Remove 14mm brake line banjo bolt
Remove banjo bolt copper washers (2 per side)
Cut dust shield
Test fit new caliper
Test fit new rotor
Bend dust shield to avoid interference
Secure rotor with 2 lug nuts
Install new caliper, TQ bolts to 87ft-lbs
Install new banjo bolt copper washers
Install banjo bolt, TQ to 22ft-lbs
Bleed front brakes (rear not necessary)
Check for leaks by having someone press brake pedal (wear safety glasses!)
Install wheels
Test drive!
