Betesk - Focus

Recording under a multitude of distinct and fleshed-out pseudonyms, the creative output of Matthew Faulkner encompasses a plethora of modes; an impressively diverse body of work that continues to expand outward both technically and stylistically. By this point an artist thoroughly versed in sound collage, broken transmission and many other forms of sample-based expression, Faulkner graces Vivarium with one of their meatiest releases yet under their Betesk alias - 'Focus'.

A richly conceptual listen, 'Focus' is populated with ominous darkness, industrial clutter, blockbuster bombast and splintery collage, all cohering into a tightly-executed soundtrack of horror that retains mystique through the abstraction of its visceral environments. Betesk demonstrates an assured hand in aesthetics, peppering in VHS artifacts and analog warping to render the narrative with ravenous texture. 'Focus' is a brooding auditory yarn, priming the mind to spin its own mangled scenario out of its expertly cultivated sonic fragments.
