The European Health Data and Evidence Network, or EHDEN for short, aims to improve patient care by generating high-quality #evidence from #health data standardised to the #OMOP Common Data Model. EHDEN’s mission is to reduce the time to provide an answer in real world, health research. It will achieve this by developing the required infrastructure in a federated network at scale across Europe, collaboration on research methodologies, and education in an open science collaboration.

This series of introductory courses were designed because several of the key concepts central to the EHDEN project can be technical in nature, and challenging to understand for non-expert readers, particularly patients, patient organisations, and citizens.

This series of courses will help to equip you with the tools and knowledge you need to meaningfully engage with the EHDEN project, and other health data and governance topics beyond.

This introductory course is designed to familiarise non-experts with the basics of how data is managed across large systems, and the benefits of doing this on a large scale. The key concepts covered include what are federated data networks and related concepts, as well as the OMOP common data model.

This course uses animated content and examples to illustrate how the EHDEN project aims to apply these structures to maximise the value of health data and ultimately improve patient treatment and outcomes. Course 2 builds on the concepts explored in Course 1.
