Slow Airs - Táimse i m' chodladh (with lyrics)

Táimse i m'chodladh is a beautiful air and an almost hypnotic song. Its a really well known slow air of the Aisling type and I have seen it work its effect on people who couldn't speak a word of Irish.

I was at a festival in Scotland and was asked to do an intimate performance in a side venue, and I finishe dit off with this song because it has a refrain "táimse i'm chodladh is ná dúistear mé" that everybody could learn very quickly and join in with. They did and it was uplifting and spiritual and deeply moving. A few months later I was talking to another artist who was at the festival. He told me someone had spoken to him of this song and he said: " how even though he couldn't understand a word, your singing put him in touch with something he couldn't understand but left him weeping tears that needed to be wept!"

This was the first song I learned off my dad and my daughter is practicing it for the Fleadh now. Tradition passes down orally and I am just one link in this chain. I am connected to the link before and the one in front, and it is the songs that forge these links.
