A spicy fish filling with a perfectly flaky buttery crust!

A slightly spicy, savoury, scrumptious filling encased in a flaky and buttery crust, these fish patties are PERFECT for game day snacking, for breakfast or tea time snacking. You can use your choice of protein for the filling or make it vegetarian.

Fish Patties I Sri Lankan Patties Recipe I Quick & Easy

Ingredients
Cooking Oil
Salt
Pepper
Mackeral
Chilli Flakes
Onion
Green Chillies
Cumin Seeds
Garlic
Boiled Potatoes
Butter
Flour
Lime Juice

Method

Dough
Place the flour, salt, baking powder together in a bowl. Whisk to combine well
Add butter and rub it into the flour using your fingers
Form a soft dough while adding iced water
The dough should come together to make a pliable dough that's not sticky

Filling
Heat cooking oil in a large non stick pan over medium high heat
Add the finely chopped onion, crushed cumin seeds, garlic, and green chillies for a few minutes until softened
Add pepper, salt, chilli flakes and Mix through the onions
Add the fish and mix it with onion spice mix. Break the fish into smaller pieces and sauté the mix until it's dry, and takes the colour of the spices.
Next, add the boiled potatoes to the fish mix and mix until well combined
Let the mix cool down

Wrap the pastries as instructed in the video

Tips
To freeze cheese fish patties, place untried fish patties in one layer on a baking tray, and wrap with plastic wrap. Freeze until the patties are completely frozen through.
