Aloo Matar Recipe

Ingredients for Aloo Matar:
Oil 1/2 cup
Onion (chopped) 1 cup
Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
Tomato puree 1 cup
Cumin powder 1 tbsp
Red chili powder 1 tbsp
Coriander powder 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Salt 1 tsp
Potato cubes 2 cups
Peas 2 cups
Water 3 cups
Dried fenugreek 1 tsp
Garam masala powder 1 tsp

Ingredients for Tarka:
Butter 3 tbsp
Oil 2 tbsp
Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
Whole red button chilies (dried) 8-10

Directions for Aloo Matar Preparation:
1. In a pot heat oil and add onion. Cook until translucent. Add ginger garlic paste and cook for a minute.
2. Now add tomato puree, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and cook it well.
3. Add potatoes, peas and cook for 5-10 mins. Add water and cover and cook for 10-15 mins or until fully done.
Directions for Tarka Preparation:
4. In a pan heat butter, oil and add cumin seeds, dried red button chilies. Cook for 1 minute.
5. Add this tarka to Aloo Matar and lastly add dried fenugreek, garam masala powder and mix it well.
6. Your Dhaba Style Aloo Matar are ready.

Cooking time: 30-40 mins
Servings: 5-6
