We’re installing new rims and tires on our Honda CRF450R in this video from Partzilla.com!

A good rim and tire combination is essential when you’re working with a high performance motocross bike like the CRF450. The tires transfer all of that power from the engine into the dirt, and the rims hold up the whole package in what is often a punishing environment.

In this video, we’re working with the front and rear wheels off the machine. We’ll start by getting the front and rear brake discs attached, and we’ll also tackle the rear sprocket. Once that’s done, we’ll work on the tires.

Mounting a tire on a dirt bike takes a little patience and the right tools. We’ll get the rim tape in, and then we’ll get the partially-inflated tube and the tire mounted using a set of tire irons. Then, we’ll inflate the tire past the operating pressure to get everything to seat, and then back the pressure back down to a more rider-friendly PSI.

These new Excel rims-- along with the Talon hubs, heavy duty spokes, and the rest of the parts for the installation are from a company called Dubya. They provide much of the hardware we’ll need, but you can also find OEM hardware for your CRF450 at Partzilla.
