1st district Krisztinaváros - Buda side

Vérmező means "Bloody Field"

One of the capital's popular public parks was once the scene of bloody events: it was here that Ignác Martinovics and his companions were executed. The area originally served military purposes and was also used as an airport. After the World War II, it was filled with the construction ruins of the Castle, landscaped, and trees and bushes were planted here, which is how it acquired the image it is known for today.
