Описание к видео What Links Harappa to a Small Village in Kerala? | Lost was casting

The famous Dancing Girl of Mohenjo-daro — dated to around 2300–1750 BCE — is more than an artifact.
She’s evidence of one of the oldest metalworking techniques known to humanity: lost-wax casting.

What’s remarkable is that the same step-by-step process documented in the Indus Valley is still practiced today in Kujimangalam, a small village in northern Kerala known for its bell-metal craft.

This short video captures that connection — wax models shaped by hand, clay moulds built layer by layer, the firing, and finally, molten metal taking the place of the wax that once held the form.
No reinvention, just a 4,500-year-old method that remains relevant because it continues to work.

Kujimangalam's artisans are part of an unbroken lineage of makers who kept this knowledge alive through practice, not preservation.

If you want to understand the full history, the families behind the craft, and how the process has survived in its original form, watch the complete documentary on our channel.
