So welcome to another long description;)

This is how it was for me and my friends who are not EU students. For EU students the procedure is easier/shorter, if you are from the EU, please research what applies to you and what doesn't from the things that I tell you about in this video.

And please do not stress out about it too much, people just like us work in all the authorities you are going, if a document is missing they will just give you 2-4 weeks to send it to them by email, and that's it, nothing horrible happens, you will just have to wait a little longer.

You can do it all by yourself with a lot of research, calling and emailing certain people/authorities, or you can ask agencies/people who do it professionally for help. I know 3 good ones I can recommend to you (I know they are good because I know the founders either personally, or one of my students actually works in one of them as a mentor and I follow that agency on Instagram because the content is just so good). I heard some "horror" stories of some agencies losing important documents or messing up the dates a bit, that is why I only recommend the ones I am 100% sure in!

1) the link with the residence permit checklist: https://oead.at/en/to-austria/entry-a...

Scroll down until you see "Checklist for a "Residence Permit – Student", you will see the list of documents you bring in case of 1st-time application and renewal, AND then after it you will see a list of ADDITIONAL documents that are needed ONLY in case of 1st-time application or ONLY in case of renewal.
You will also find the formula on how to calculate how much money you need to have on your bank account for the year. IT IS NOT A BLOCKED ACCOUNT. AFTER YOU PRESENT THE BANK STATEMENT CONFIRMATION OF THE FUNDS YOU CAN SPEND THE MONEY HOWEVER YOU LIKE.
The word legalised means = to get an apostille on that document, it is like a special seal.

For the "Police clearance certificate from your country of residence (in individual cases also from your country of origin) not older than 3 months at the time of application (legalised and afterwards translated)" MAKE SURE THE ONE YOU ARE GETTING CAN BE LEGALISED AFTERWARDS. I WENT TO ONE OF THE AUTHORITIES THAT DO IT AND GOT THE ONLINE VERSION OF IT, BUT LATER IT TURNED OUT I NEEDED THAT DOCUMENT FROM ANOTHER AUTHORITY AND IN THE PAPER FORM TO BE ABLE TO LEGALISE IT! (calling/emailing/asking to make sure never hurts ahah)

Students under 24 years of age: (EUR 569.11/month + health insurance (around 70 euros)+(cost of accommodation-309.93 euros))*12
The accommodation part: if it costs 309.93 euros or less it is included in the 569.11 euros per month already, but usually it exceeds that amount (a good dorm costs around 400-500 euros per month), so you need to add that difference to the calculation.

The no-loans/regular expenses document I mentioned: https://oead.at/fileadmin/Dokumente/o...
YOU NEED IT FOR THE RESIDENCE PERMIT 1ST TIME AND RENEWAL APPLICATION AND ALSO (I think someone told me that) FOR THE STUDENT VISA D APPLICATION. SO JUST PRINT IT AND BRING IT WITH YOU EVERYWHERE.

What WU says about the apostille: https://www.wu.ac.at/en/programs/appl...

The visa center I went to for my student visa: https://www.vfsglobal.com/en/individu...

The process of visa/residence permit broken down:
1) you submit documents at the EMBASSY OF AUSTRIA (in your country, usually in the capital, or a nearest country where you can do it, in case there is no embassy of Austria in your country) FOR A RESIDENCE PERMIT (THE APPOINTMENT MIGHT TAKE LONG TO GET, so it is better to book it in advance)
2) The EMBASSY sends them to the MAGISTRAT (in Austria)
3) within 3 months (usually 1-1.5 months) the MAGISTRAT gives an answer (positive/negative) to YOU BY E-MAIL
4) Then, after 3-7 business days, the EMBASSY will send you an official invitation and a list of documents for applying for a D VISA at the VISA CENTER (not at the embassy itself, but at vfs global)
5) after 1-3 weeks you receive/pick up your passport with a VISA D

VISA D allows you a SINGLE ENTRY IN AUSTRIA AND GIVES YOU 3-4 MONTHS TO STAY THERE. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AT MA35 (magistrat) AND BRING THE DOCUMENTS THERE ONCE AGAIN AND RECEIVE YOUR RESIDENCE PERMIT that is given to you for a year.
You can bring in the documents to prolong your residence permit the earliest 3 month before it expires and the latest one day before the expiration date (while the magistat is reviewing your documents, you can legally stay in Austria until the decision is made).
