Train Cab Ride NL / Rush Hour Sprinter / Tiel - Utrecht - Leiden / SLT Sprinter / April 2024

Hi everyone! Our wedding day is almost coming up! Today I have a brand new ride just as planned for you all. The upcoming time will be an exiting but busy time for me and my soon to be husband! The next video will be published on Friday June 21. The one after that I'm not sure of yet. But you can put the 21st of June in your calendar for the next ride. :D

Alright! Now let's get to today's ride shall we? We get to drive the Sprinter service from Tiel towards Leiden. A full Sprinter ride from start to the end of the line. It's a early morning ride with the Friday rush hour when we arrive in Alphen a/d Rijn. A lot to see. It will be cloudy in the start of the video, but the sun will come through as well. Enjoy!

Tracks coming from the south joining in. After Geldermalsen the line towards Dordrecht is splitting up.

Time to cross our first province border! Goodbye Gelderland. Hello Utrecht.

At this station nothing changes for the passenger. But train personnel needs to adjust the train numbers. At this stop we change from train number 6720 to 8820. So we need to change the numbers on the GSM-R and the transceiver. The connection with the train manager is tested after that.

After this stop we skip three stations. Our next stop is Woerden. After Utrecht you can take trains in many directions.

The location where a terrible train accident happened on January 8, 1962. After which the ATB system has been implemented to help the train driver see the maximum speed (in the cabin) at a location.

After a short stop we continue toward the single tracked route towards Leiden! After Woerden the tracks toward Gouda are splitting up.

This is a shunting track for trains ending at Woerden. They can change direction here.

The second and last Province border on the route.

The train from the opposite direction is perfectly on time. Just as we are. Another picture. Don't forget to smile!

1:03:23 Gouwe Rail Bridge (No Wires)
We need to power off the trains motors here. Not needed btw. We were coasting for a long time already. :) The pantographs can't reach as high as the end and beginning of the power lines. So we don't need to lower these.

Short part with two tracks so trains can pass each other. As shown in the video.

Before we arrive at Leiden Lammenschans we pass another bridge without overhead wires.

Arriving at Leiden Centraal. Final call for our train. And you'll see why that is. ;)
