New York Central's Jet-Powered High Speed Train

Описание к видео New York Central's Jet-Powered High Speed Train

In the 1960s, rail passenger travel was on a steep decline in the United States. Cars and airplanes were taking over, but the New York Central Railroad had a plan. The railroad's president, Alfred E. Perlman, figured speed would re-attract riders, a speed of 200 mph (322 km/h) to be exact. He tasked research team lead Don Wetzel with the job of researching and developing a high speed train to test potential high speed routes. The catch was, Wetzel had only 30 days to make it happen, so things would be done on the cheap. The New York Central's Jet Train was thus born out of an RDC car.
