​1. Optimize Sunlight Exposure
​Ensure your bougainvillea receives full sun, aiming for a minimum of 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Bougainvillea thrives in bright conditions, and adequate sun exposure is the single most critical factor for maximum flower production. In cooler regions, position container plants in the sunniest spot or move them indoors to a bright, cool location near a window to prevent bud drop and maintain bloom vigor. Insufficient light leads to excessive foliage (leaf growth) and sparse blooms.

​Drought stress is a powerful technique to force blooming in bougainvillea. As the plant enters the winter season, drastically reduce watering frequency. Allow the well-draining soil to become quite dry between deep waterings.
