Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX had a lot of promise when it was first announced. Brock Lesnar from Smackdown had bumped into Raw's Bill Golderg on Pay Per Views during late 2003 and 2004, but when Brock cost Goldberg a potential shot at the World Championship (by hitting the F-5 on Goldberg during the Royal Rumble) Goldberg made it his mission to revenge. Goldberg would show up to the Smackdown exclusive No Way Out show in 2004 and he would effectively cost Lesnar the WWE title.

Brock Lesnar vs Bill Goldberg was then booked for WrestleMania 20 with Stone Cold Steve Austin serving as the special guest referee. News quickly spread around Madison Square Garden that Brock and Goldberg were leaving the company, so the fans decided to rip the match apart. On top of this, the action in the ring wasn't up to par and all this leads to one of the most disappointing WrestleMania attractions of all time.
