Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Rondo in A minor, K.511

This fortepiano was made by Johann Schantz in 1795 in Vienna and is exactly the style of instrument that Mozart and Haydn would have known well. This piano is celebrated for its clarity and beauty of tone and brings out the mercurial and quicksilver quality of Mozart's remarkable writing for the piano. This deeply personal expression of Mozart's most private emotions makes for one of his most sensitive and profound works. It was written without any obvious purpose, perhaps just a pure outpouring of art and feeling.
