This is a data visualisation showing the All-Time Top 10 VFL/AFL Teams based on total number of points (PTS) accumulated by each team between 1897 and 2020 (regular season PLUS finals). Which team sits at the top of the ultimate VFL/AFL ladder after more than 120 years of the big game?

Points for each team were recorded starting from the inaugural season of the Victorian Football League (VFL) in 1897 up to and including the 2020 season.

Standard AFL scoring (Win = 4 PTS, Draw = 2 PTS, Loss = 0 PTS).

At the end of the video we've also included the total number of Premierships won by each team since 1897.

Please note although the names of some teams have changed since 1897 for the sake of consistency the current team names are used.
