Which NHL Team is the Greatest of All Time? (1917-2020)

This is a data visualisation showing the All-Time Top 10 NHL (National Hockey League) Teams based on total points accumulated by each team between 1917 and 2020 (regular season PLUS playoffs). Which team sits at the top of the standings after more than 100 years of NHL?

Points for each team were recorded starting from the inaugural season of the NHL in 1917/18 season up to and including the 2019/20 season.

Standard NHL scoring:

Win = 2 PTS
Overtime or shootout loss = 1 PT
Tie = 1 PT (except after and including the 2005/06 season when this was phased out)
Loss= 0 PTS

At the end of the video we've also included the total number of Stanley Cup championships won by each team since the 1917/18 season.

Please note although the names of some teams have changed since 1917 for the sake of consistency the current or most recent team names are used.

Please note there is no data for the 2004-05 season due to the labor management dispute that year.
