あの「テトリス」シリーズの第3弾。前作の「フラッシュポイント」ではパズル性を重視していたが、今作では本来のアクション性にさらに磨きをかけて、対戦プレイの面白さを追求している。落下してくる7種類のブロックを回転させつつラインを完成させるという基本ルールに変更はないが、この「ブロクシード」では、新たにフリッキーや16tボムなど5種類の強力アイテムが登場する。また、対戦プレイ時には、2ライン以上同時に消すことで、相手に消したラインをそのまま転送できる。システム18の第1弾として登場した作品でもある。
