A Monday at Macungie on January 9, 2012

On January 9th, 2012, me and my friends Kyle and Kon made a day trip up to Macungie, which is located at Milepost RV 26 on the NS Reading Line. A few good catches did pass by us during the day, unfortunately, Dash 9s made the majority...

10:20 AM -
First, 11J heads westbound through Macungie with NS SD70M-2 2756 and NS C40-9W 9569 powering the empty autorack train west.
11J - Doremus, NJ - Conway, PA Empty Autos

Around an hour after 11J came west, 19G pulled up to just shy of the Railfan park, waiting on some MOW work at Alburtis to clear up, along with two eastbounds...

11:52 AM -
The first eastbound was 18N headed eastbound with NS C40-9W 9603 (with an awesome P5 horn) and NS SD60M 6799 providing the power.
18N - Fostoria, OH - Doremus, NJ Auto Loads

12:22 PM -
NS 962 (which is lite power from Camden, NJ, because 39G doesn't run on Mondays) heads eastbound with a real treat, with GMTX SD60 9027 leading, and NS C40-9 8798 and NS C40-8 8307 trailing. Out of all the GMTX units I've seen, this is the first one I've seen leading.
962 - Pavonia, NJ - Allentown, PA Lite power

12:41 PM -
19G gets back underway westbound with a four pack of widecabs pulling a train composed of mostly trash, with NS C40-9W 9198, NS C40-9W 9143, NS C40-8W 8327, and NS C40-9W 8967 as the power, with only the first two units online.
19G - Oak Island, NJ - Conway, PA Manifest

1:07 PM -
39G follows westbound next with NS C40-8W 8466 in very fresh paint leading, plus NS C40-8W 8353 and NS C40-9W 9903 trailing. The 8466 was an extremely recent repaint at the time, not to mention it has an excellent RS3L horn.
38G - Allentown, PA - Pavonia, NJ Manifest

3:07 PM -
H68 comes eastbound with NS C40-9W 9324 and NS C40-9W 9158 for power. They would stop just down the line to work Buckeye Pipe, tying up track two for several hours in the process.
H68 - Allentown, PA - Reading, PA turn

4:16 PM -
With the H68 still on track two, NS 24Z moves eastbound up track one (wrong main) with NS ES40DC 7619 and NS SD60M 6794 running elephant style.
24Z - Chicago-Ashland Ave, IL - Croxton, NJ Intermodal

5:06 PM -
33A moves eastbound up one just after sunset with a rather interesting lash-up of NS SD60M 6801, NS C40-9W 9666, and NS GP38-2 5016 high hood for power. 6801 has an awesome RS3L horn, making two for the day.

5:49 PM -
With an eerie sounding RS3L horn in the distance, 15T is seen approaching us at Macungie, and soon after breezes westbound with NS C40-9W 8325, NS C40-9W 9272, and NS C40-9W 8931 for power.

6:41 PM -
NS C40-9Ws 9361 and 9976 lead 261 westbound.
261 - Bethlehem, PA - Fort Wayne, IN Roadrailer

8:21 PM -
I0K (extra 20K) heads eastbound with NS C40-9Ws 9653 and 9651 elephant style.
I0K - Chicago-63rd Street, IL - Croxton, NJ Intermodal/Extra 20K

9:32 PM -
64J moves eastbound next, with yes, another pair of C40-9Ws, with 9893 leading 9794.
64J - Mingo Jct, OH - Kearny, NJ Trash Empties

10:06 PM -
The final train of the day, and one of the better ones, was 16T, seen headed east just after 10 PM with NS SD60 6588, NS SD70 2572, and NS C40-9 8836 for power.
