RECIPE FOR SLAB APPLE PIE

Preheat oven to 375 degrees


*3 Cups Flour
1 Tablespoon Sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 Sticks Butter (not margarine!) shredded
In video I forgot to add the other stick of butter!!!! Argh! Ha

Mix above together gently.

Put one egg yolk into a 1/3 cup full the 1/3 with milk.

add one more 1/3 cup milk

Pour over flour mixture and gently mix with spoon. Add milk by drops until it just holds together ..

Divide dough in half.

Roll out to fit rimmed jelly roll pan or baking sheet. You will want edges on pan in case juices run out.

Put 1-2 cups of corn flakes on top of crust

Peel, Core and Slice 8-10 apples
Pour 1 cup sugar mixed with 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Place apples on top of crust.

Roll out top crust. Place over apples and pinch edges.

Beat two egg whites until soft peaks form

Spread over crust.

Bake 375 on center rack for 20 minutes then lower temperature to 350. Bake 15-20 minutes more until apples are tender when a sharp knife is inserted and crust is golden brown.

Remove from oven. Cool to warm.

Glaze:

1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Milk to make a smooth glaze.

Drizzle with fork over the crust.

Cool. Slice.
Makes 12+ servings
