HOW TO PAINT AN ALLA PRIMA CHICKADEE IN OILS - Suzanne Barrett Justis

In this wildlife painting tutorial, I will take you step y step on painting an alla prima chickadee in oils. I will show you how to paint a realistic bird in a wet on wet or alla prima fashion. Learn how to paint realistic birds alla prima in oils with this easy to follow oil painting tutorial. This easy step by step speed painting ( and real time too) video is made for beginners as well as advanced painters. I am using oil paints in this video, but a lot of these same painting techniques can be applied with acrylic paints

Watch or follow along as I paint the Chickadee alla prima, from start to finish starting with a rough wipe out of paint using a clean brush and paint thinner. . I will go over the paint palette and talk a little about color mixing as I go along. I will show you how I layer the impasto paint to create detail in the feathers and use a paint scraper to help create the feet. You will also learn to use impasto paints to create the fine details in feathers and other details as well as crating soft edges while working into wet paint to create the believability in your work.
