Festive Postlude on "Wir Pflügen" - Vernon Hoyle [Johannus LiVE III AGO Liverpool Willis]

Описание к видео Festive Postlude on "Wir Pflügen" - Vernon Hoyle [Johannus LiVE III AGO Liverpool Willis]

Vernon Hoyle is a prolific composer of organ music some of which, like this piece, are based upon familiar hymn melodies. In this instance, the german chorale melody "Wir Pflügen" is used, being most frequently sung to the Harvest hymn "We plough the fields and scatter the good seed on the land". It is dedicated "To John Smalley, Organist and Choirmaster, All Saints' Church, Wath-upon Dearne, South Yorkshire".

This piece includes registrations both for larger organs and, as recorded here, more modest instruments. You might like to compare and contrast this recording with one made on the three manual organ of Manchester's Holy Name Church:    • Festive Postlude on "Wir Pflügen" - ...

It is played on a Johannus Live III AGO organ, using the sample of the Willis organ in the Lady Chapel of Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral, and is one of the smaller sample sets available for the Johannus, with just two manuals and pedals. The sample sets can be heard from four positions: console, front of the church, centre of the church, rear of the church. This recording uses the rear of the church position.
