When the sleepy rural village of Finglas was swallowed up by Dublin City as a result of Dublin Corporation's housing schemes of the 50's and 70's, it was nothing less than a culture shock for the invaded locals and for the new arrivals, who were mainly inner city Dubs, rehoused from the tenements. With facilities slow to follow the houses, teething problems were enevitable.
