📼 [VHS] Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers Gameplay

i refuse to make consistent videos because that'd imply i'm a consistent person. anyways, decided to do something a bit fun, i recorded me playing ring racers, but i recored it on a real tape!

this was recorded on a genuine VCR (a sony SLV-685HF if you care) and was played in real time by me on my CRT TV, using a convoluted yet working setup that goes HDMI to VGA, then from VGA to composite out. the VGA to composite out method i used was made by startech, and that provides a pretty lagless solution to the problem!

the only part of this process i'm not a big fan of is my USB A/V capture card, it only captures at 30 FPS, so, it doesn't look as buttery smooth as it does on my TV 😔. if i can find a cheap HDMI capture card that works with linux, and i can get one of those cheap RCA to HDMI adapters, i'm sure that'd work a treat.

if i feel like it, i might do more videos akin to this, i don't think there's many people doing this type of video lol (and next time i'll break out a VCR where i can disable hi-fi audio for a more Authentic Feel)
