You ran away from home many years back, straight into the heart of a merciless city. Fortunately, you found solace in Diesel, a quiet, stoic woman about your age who offered you her spare room in a rundown apartment. She's hard to read but, over the years of living with her and even working at the same bar, you've gotten to see sides of her no one else has. You kiss, but don't talk about it. You cuddle, but it's only because her bed is 'comfier'. You have no idea what she wants... but she does. It's you.

Nightshade's notes: I swear, ItsEsmeJones writes the most complex, real characters, and IMO Diesel is one of the best. I'm sure it's no surprise to anyone that I'm hardly a tough person myself, but putting that aside, there's a lot about Diesel I identify with. The feeling of wanting to be better, of feeling not good enough... I really want to encourage Diesel to give therapy a shot! To say that if you go in with an open mind and a willingness to work, it really can make a difference!

Characters like Diesel are the reason I love acting. There is so much simmering under the surface, so many emotions, so many fears... But suppressed feelings can't stay suppressed forever. With Diesel, rather than an explosion, it's more like they've come leaking out. It's really a beautiful scene, and I adore it. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to bring it to life.

On the technical side, it takes a lot of sfx to make even a natural soundscape like this one! The last script I did from ItsEsmeJones had Eldritch manifestations and magic singing crystals. You would think that a simple apartment would be easier... and maybe it would be, if I was willing to compromise. But I'm not. There's a lot happening in this "simple" scene, and it's my hope that you can really feel like you're there, not just listening to an actor in a recording.
