Global Carpet Leader Interface Fills in the Planks in US, Europe, and Asia with innovative plank-shaped carpet tiles.
Interface, a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of carpet tiles introduced a new modular flooring innovation -- Planks --in June of 2013. An evolution of traditional square carpet tiles, these latest plank-shaped products will take customers to a new world of interior design possibilities, offering greater flexibility, minimal waste and more creative freedom.
The product is taking root in Europe and Asia, after gaining a strong entry foothold in the US. Sales associates viewed this video December 16-19, 2013 in Barcelona at Interface's annual European Sales Meeting.
According to designers and customers who have already successfully used Planks in office, school and hotel installations, and appear in the video, the plank shape and colors available exclusively through Interface are great for stand-alone use or as a natural complement to the company's 50x50 square carpet tile. Listen as Interface design and sales associates and customers from Informatica, Adobe and La Caisse des Dépots et Consignations share their Planks stories.
The potential options for new installations are limitless -- as are the combinations of formats, textures, colors and patterns.
Urban Retreat 501 was the first collection to be launched in the Planks range. Based on one of Interface's latest, and already popular, carpet tile collections, Urban Retreat 501 is inspired by people's instinctive love of nature, a science known as Biophilia. Reflecting the core elements of Biophilic design, color palettes within the Urban Retreat collection are evocative of heritage stones, forests, and savannah grasses. The tiles will be available as skinny planks, measuring 25 x 100cm. They are suitable for herringbone and ashlar installation and available in colors that will complement square Urban Retreat tiles, as well as the addition of vibrant accent colors.
According to Rob Boogaard, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India at Interface, "Our latest innovation, Planks, offer our customers the most advanced modular flooring design capabilities. Colors, textures and patterns can be combined like never before to create contemporary and inspiring interiors. Planks are a great example of how sometimes the simplest changes can have the greatest effect."
Reflecting Interface's Mission Zero goal for zero environmental footprint by 2020, Planks include a high percentage of recycled content -- Urban Retreat 501 is made using 100% recycled nylon. Planks can be easily installed using Interface's glue-free and flexible TacTiles system, to minimize odor and emissions, and can also be used in conjunction with Interlay, for enhanced acoustic properties and comfort. What's more, all tiles can be recycled through Interface's ReEntry take-back scheme, to help reduce the amount of carpet sent to landfill or incineration at the end of their life.
