Lake Wanapitei

Описание к видео Lake Wanapitei

This video is of Lake Wanapitei which is actually a meteorite crater in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. The crater is 5.2 mi (8.4 km) in diameter and the age is estimated to be 37.2 ± 1.2 million years. The lake is a popular recreational and residential area in Sudbury, with the neighbourhoods of Skead and Boland's Bay located on its shores. With the municipal amalgamation of Greater Sudbury in 2001, it became the largest lake in the world completely contained within the boundaries of a single city. It inherited this status from Lake Ramsey, which is also in Sudbury.

The lake's name comes from the Ojibwa word waanabidebiing, or "concave-tooth [shaped] water", which describes its shape.

The video was shot at 9:30 am on August 12, 2020 using a Mavic Air 2 drone. The video was shot in 4k, at 30 fps using an ND8 PL filter. You will notice my black SUV parked at a boat launch area. As I flew over it I noticed that there was old submerged crib work that were most likely part of a former dock and launch infrastructure.

The weather on this morning was absolutely perfect and there was not a sole out on the lake.
