Damodar is reassured by Laxmibai that their fort would be returned to them today. Damodar swears that the British will never again be allowed to enter their fort. When Dunlop, a British officer, sees Ghaus Khan and his men approaching, he attacks them, but Ghaus Khan escapes. Hamilton cautions Nelson against taking the safe passage when Laxmibai begs him to. Nelson becomes enraged with Hamilton and threatens him with a gun. Nelson orders his soldiers to vacate the fort and lay down their guns first. Conversely, Dunlop gives the order for his soldiers to corner Laxmibai by entering the fort through the same gate that Nelson will be leaving from. Ghaus Khan hears this without Dunlop and his men realizing it. Nelson arrives at the gate from which he will go in the meanwhile.
