LIVE: Bangladesh Seeks Extradition of Sheikh Hasina: Will India Agree? | Vantage with Palki Sharma

Bangladesh's interim government said on December 23 that it has sent a diplomatic note to the Indian foreign ministry, seeking the extradition of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain said, "We have sent a note verbale to the Indian government saying that Bangladesh wants her (Hasina) back here for the judicial process."
Sheikh Hasina had fled to India after her government fell on August 5 amid the massive students' protest, and has since been living in exile in New Delhi. Dhaka's Home Advisor Jahangir Alam said his office has sent a note verbale to New Delhi, and that they are seeking Hasina's return under an existing extradition treaty with India.
Hasina is wanted for trial in Dhaka-based International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) for alleged "genocide" and "crimes against humanity". She also faces over 150 cases for corruption, embezzlement and murder in Dhaka.
