My NE111 4000W Finish!
A 3 night, four day reservation at Daicey Pond Campground, cabin #6.
My goal for this trip is to climb the 3 hardest Mountains in the East.. North Brother, Hamlin & Katahdin. These peaks are also the last three high peaks that I need to hike to have officially climbed all 111(115) peaks during the winter hiking season December 21st to March 21st. There is 2 in the Catskills & 46 of them in the Adirondacks of New York. In New Hampshire you have 48, Vermont has 5 and 14 High Peaks in Maine!
What makes these last three peaks in Baxter State Park extra difficult is that they can not be climbed in a single day in the winter. You need to get reservations to enter Baxter State Park and camp. Day one is hike in to camp. Day 2-3 is our Hike Days and on the fourth day we hiked out.
We parked at Abol Bridge Parking area. Stats from parking lot to Daicey Pond Campground, the two hike days and back to the car are as follows….
Day 1: 6.5 Miles with 1600 feet of climbing
Day 2: North Brother 18.5 Miles 3829 Elevation Gain from Camp to camp.
Day 3: Hamlin and Katahdin. 24 Miles and 6500 Elevation gain.
Day 4: 6.5 Miles and 350 elevation gain.
